Activity bib groups and corrals

This page is used to define bib groups and corrals. For race activities, all participants (runners) receive a bib number which they wear during the race. Bib numbers are grouped together by gender and/or expected finish times, or may be allocated to the activity and its sub-activities (event and its races) based on the number of participants. For example: a bib group may be defined for males whose expected finish time is below 2 hours. Or a bib group may be defined for females, and may have up to 50 members from each race of the event.

Note: Grouping by gender is always an option when defining bib groups. But grouping by expected finish times or allocating by number of participants depends on a setting in the Racing Options section in the Activity Details page. Selecting the Manage bib groups by number of participants checkbox will allow you to allocate participants to bib groups depending on the number of participants for each race. For example: a bib group may have 10 participants from Race1, 20 from Race2, and so on. Deselecting the checkbox will allow you to assign participants to bib groups depending on their expected finish times. For example, a bib group may be assigned to participants whose expected finish time is below 2 hours, regardless of which race (sub-activity) they are registered in.

Corrals are groupings of participants who will start the race at the same time. One or more bib groups may be assigned to a corral. For example: bib groups 1,2, and 3 may all be assigned to corral 1 so they all start at the same time. The creation of corrals and assignment of bib groups to corrals is not mandatory.

The bib groups and corrals defined on this page are used when the batch bib assignment process is run. Bib numbers are assigned to participants depending on the bib groups defined for their gender, expected finish times, or the number of participants.

Note: To ensure that all participants belong to a bib group, a "catch-all" group should be defined. Participants who cannot be assigned to any bib group (either by expected finish time or allocation by number of participants) will be assigned to this bib group. If a "catch-all" group is not defined, the system will automatically create a group and add it at the bottom of the bib group list.

Number or Time

Criteria for assigning or allocating participants of the activity and all sub-activities (the event and its races) to bib groups.

Expected finish times or number of participants may be specified, depending on whether the Manage bib groups by number of participants checkbox in the Racing Options section of the Activity Details page has been selected or not.

If the checkbox is selected, the maximum number of participants from the activity and all sub-activities to assign to the bib group is specified.

For example, 20 participants from Race1, 10 from Race2, and so on.

If the checkbox is not selected, the maximum expected finish time of participants for the activity and all sub-activities required to assign them to the bib group is specified.

For example, participants from all sub-activities (races) whose expected finish time is below 2 hours will be assigned to a particular bib group.

When the batch bib assignment process is run, participants are assigned to bib groups depending on the their expected finish times, or the number of participants allocated for each bib group from each race.

Corrals are groupings of participants who will start the race at the same time. Several bib groups may be assigned to a corral.

For example, bib number groups 1,2, and 3 may all be assigned to corral 1 so they all start at the same time.

The creation of corrals and assignment of bib groups to corrals is not mandatory.
