If you create a new customer or company that is similar to an existing customer or company, the system will show you a list of its potential duplicates. You can then decide whether you want to incorporate the new customer/company into the existing customer/company or leave them separate.
You can also view a list of all customers and companies that the system has identified as potential duplicates. If the customers/companies truly are duplicates, then you can merge them. If they are not actually duplicates, then you can tell the system to exclude them in any further duplicate searches that it will do in the future.
Choose one of the following:
To merge the duplicate customers/companies into a single record:
Click Merge under the name of the customer/company that you want to merge.
On the Merge Customer Values page, choose which field values to keep in the merged customer/company.
Click Merge.
To exclude the customer/company from future searches for duplicate records, click Exclude under the name of the customer/company to exclude.
To leave things as they are (future searches for duplicate records will continue to return this same customer/company), click Ignore All.
