Gift cards

You can create gift cards and sell them to pre-existing customers, drop-in customers and companies.

 

You can print gift cards by clicking the Print Gift Card button on the Receipt page.

The Change Gift Card page includes the following input fields:

Name of the gift card.

Retire from Use

Checkbox

Option to retire the gift card so that it does not appear in the list of available gift cards on the Gift Card Sale page.

Numbering

Radio buttons

Select the numbering system for this type of gift card:

  • Use System Generated numbers: Select this option if you want to use gift card numbers that are generated by ACTIVE Net. ACTIVE Net will assign each new gift card a unique, randomized, 16-digit number.

  • Use External Numbers: Select this option if you want to use pre-printed cards (maximum 22 digits) that already have numbers assigned to them.

Only Digits and Decimal Points Allowed

Checkbox

Select this option to restrict new gift card numbers to digits and decimal points.

 

This option is only available if you have selected Use external numbers for the Numbering option above.

Enforce Gift Card Number Mask

Checkbox

Select this option to restrict new gift card numbers to follow your own format mask.

 

Define a mask using hash symbols (#) and/or periods (.). For example, to specify that all gift card numbers must contain 6 digits, a point, and then 4 more digits, enter the following:

 

######.####

 

This option is only available if you have selected Use external numbers for the Numbering option above.

Hide on Internet

Checkbox

Option to prevent public users from purchasing the gift card online.

 

This option is disabled and selected if you have selected Use external numbers for the Numbering option above.

Conditions of Use

All Sites?

Specify whether this gift card type is available at all sites or whether it is restricted to specific sites.

Amount and Payment Settings

Default Amount

Numeric

Default amount charged for this gift card type.

Default Changeable at Sale

Checkboxes

Specify whether or not you want Staff (on the staff site) and/or Public (online customers on the public site) users to be allowed to enter their own gift card amounts at the time of sale.

 

Leave these options unchecked if you only want to sell this gift card type for the default amount above.
Min Sale Amount Numeric Specify the minimum amount that this gift card type can sell for.
 
This option is only available if you have selected either by Staff or by Public for the Default Changeable at Sale option above.
Min Refill Amount Numeric Specify the minimum amount that can be added to this gift card type when a customer attempts to refill it either on the staff site or on the public site.
Max Card Balance Numeric Specify the maximum balance that can be held on cards of this gift card type.

Liability G/L Account

Dropdown list

General ledger account to which the gift card is attached, as selected from a predefined list.

Expiration Settings

No expiry date

Radio button

Option to make the gift card valid indefinitely (no expiration date).

Fixed expiry date

Date

Option to have the gift card expire on a specific date.

Expires

Date

Option to configure the gift card to expire on a specific date from the time of issue.

 

Selecting this option enables the years, months, and days after purchase fields.
