A league or tournament is a collection of teams that are scheduled to play against one another. Their purpose is to allow competition between the teams to determine the skill ranking of each team or to provide an instructional structure for competition between teams.
A league hierarchy can be composed of sub-units, normally referred to as conferences and divisions.
Prior to setting up leagues or tournaments, the following data points must be configured:
Administration > League Settings > Leagues
The League List screen provides links to view child leagues, edit existing league information, and add new leagues.
If a league has child leagues attached, its Name on the list will have an underlined link. Clicking a league Name link will navigate to a list of all child leagues contained within that league and provide links to edit, add new leagues or further drill down through the league hierarchy.
Note: The page and field names below depends on whether a league or tournament has been selected.
To add
From the League List page, clicking Add New League brings you to the Change League page, allowing you to create a new record.
Clicking Add New Tournament brings you to the Change Tournament page.
To modify
From the League List page, clicking an underlined league or tournament Name navigates to a list of all child leagues contained within that league.
To edit a league, click the Edit link, which displays a general information League Functions page with several hyperlinks. These hyperlinks are for pages that allow you to address specific areas of league information:
Note: All the options above will be available if you click the Edit link for leagues without child leagues contained within them. For leagues with child leagues, only the first 3 options will be available.
The Change League Details link displays the Change League page with the league details as defined below, with the option to Save or Delete the record at the bottom of the page.
To go back, click the Cancel and go back to League Functions link on top of the page.

The default parent league can be changed by selecting the binocular icon and selecting a different league to Set As Parent.
You can choose to make this league a parent league by choosing Set As Root League after selecting the binocular icon. |
Start Date | Date | Date the league or tournament schedule starts; entered in month, day, year format or by clicking the calendar icon and selecting a date from the pop-up calendar. Required. |
End Date | Date | Date the league or tournament schedule ends; entered in month, day, year format or by clicking the calendar icon and selecting a date from the pop-up calendar. Required. |
Site | Dropdown list | Site where this league is attached, as selected from a predefined
list.
The site selected will be the only site where the league can be accessed, unless the user has multi-site permission. Selecting All Sites will make the League available to all sites. |
League or Tournament Type | Dropdown list | Type of the league, as selected from a predefined list of league types. |
Ranking Type | Dropdown list | Select the method for ranking teams within the league.
To change the details for ranking types, see Change Ranking System. Tie BreakingBy default, teams are ranked by Win-Loss Percentage.
